Before I Read Winter White

Before I read a book, I look at its cover. Despite what people say, you can tell a lot about a book based simply on what it looks like on the outside. Although you can't judge a story by its cover, the outward appearance of the book is what can draw you in and make you want to read it. I love talking about covers maybe as much as I love talking about the books themselves, so I started this feature that spotlights the covers of upcoming books I am excited to read.

Winter White by Jen Calonita

Release: October 9, 2012
It's time for the gowns to go on and the gloves to come off.

Isabelle Scott and Mirabelle Monroe are still reeling from the knowledge that they're not cousins after all-they're sisters. But with cotillion season right around the corner, the girls barely have time to process the news. Mira has been dreaming of making her debut in a gorgeous white gown forever, but after breaking up with Taylor, who's going to be her escort? Izzie, meanwhile, is still struggling to fit into Emerald Cove society, and when the troublemaking former debutante Dylan rolls into town, Izzie thinks she's finally found someone she can relate to. As cotillion preparations heat up, though, there are dance steps to learn, manners to perfect... and secret initiations to complete? As if sophomore year wasn't hard enough!
The covers for this series are great and I actually like this one better than it's predecessor. The flourishing accents above and beneath the title are very pretty, but the thing that is really eye-catching is how the three-quarter size dust jacket covers the majority of the cover model's picture, creating a secretive feel. I adore the color scheme as well; pale purple looks breathtaking when paired with bright white. Combine that with a pretty girl with a piercing stare, and you have one killer cover.
