Presenting a Newbie!

On Monday, Epic Reads announced their "The End is Here" campaign, which I am sure you know by now. If not, here is a quick explanation:

Seven YA series published by HarperCollins are ending this winter, and the Epic Reads team is working with fourteen readers to promote them. The two people assigned to each series will binge read them, chronicling the experience through tweets, blog posts and things of that nature. The only catch? Applicants had to be completely new to the series for which they would be advocating, meaning they could not have already read any of the novels.

When I heard about this, I started working on my application right away. I had been considering reading the Unearthly series (whose final book, Boundless, releases January 22, 2013) and this seemed to be the perfect motivation to try something new. Not to mention the fact that I would get to work with the Epic Reads team, who seem like amazing people.

I submitted my application on Wednesday evening and waited patiently for the decision to be made. Friday afternoon, I opened the email app on my iPod Touch and was greeted by the tingling ping that signifies a new message. It was from Margot, the community manager at Epic Reads, and it said that I had been chosen.

Yes. I am an Unearthly newbie, and I could not be more excited.

I am not yet sure what my specific obligations are for this project, but I can tell you that there will definitely be some blogging and tweeting about this book coming your way. The campaign sounds like so much fun and I cannot wait to get started.

You can see the list of all the other newbies here, at Epic Reads' official blog post. I get to read with one of my favorite bloggers, Jamie, who runs The Perpetual Page-Turner and writes for The Broke and the Bookish.

If you want to get involved, keep an eye on the Epic Reads blog for ways everyone can participate. It is always sad when a wonderful series comes to an end, but, with the help of Epic Reads, we can all get through it together.

Happy series reading and be sure to tune in for my epic newbie reading journey! Have a wonderful week!

  3. I heard about this! I thought about doing the Delirium series, but I was unsure if I would be able to finish! I did read the first 2 books and LOVED them, but at my own pace :) Can't wait to hear how you like Unearthly!
