Top Ten 2013 Debuts I'm Anticipating

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme for list-loving bloggers that is hosted by the fabulous team over at The Broke and the Bookish. Every week, readers compile a list of their favorite books, authors, or other literature-related things that fall under a certain category.

I had so much fun compiling my last list that I decided to join in again this week to talk about the 2013 debuts I am anticipating. There is a plethora of authors releasing their first YA book this year, and so many of them sound wonderful. I am especially excited to read new voices in the paranormal genre, as I have recently been branching out and adding many more of these to my TBR, but I also looking forward to a few great-sounding historical fiction and contemporary debuts. Here are a few of the many books from new writers I cannot wait to read:

My mind has already been blown by simply the premise and cover.

This sounds hilarious, and ethnic diversity can be an interesting plus.

I have heard this described as "reflective instead of scary," which is intriguing.

4. Parallel by Lauren Miller
Parallel universes have the potential of being very well-done, and I hope these are.

5. The Theory of Everything by Kari Luna
You cannot get much more smart, cute, and quirky sounding than this.

A novel that seems to be a lot like The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants is sure to be a wonderful, comforting read.

7. Another Little Piece by Kate Karyus Quinn
This book's vague blurb barely gives an idea of what it might be about, and I cannot wait to find out.

8. Strands of Bronze and Gold by Jane Nickerson
I can already tell that this will be an engrossing and enthralling historical retelling.

9. The Rules for Disappearing by Ashley Elston
A girl in the Witness Protection Program? I need this.

10. Wild Awake by Hilary T. Smith
I am so excited to read this book during the long months of summer.

I wish these brand-new authors the best of luck with their debuts, and I hope I will be able to love them all. Which 2013 debuts are you wishing for?

  1. Ooh. Parallel sounds exciting. I've read zero books about alternate universes (although I have seen quite a few tv shows about it). I'm wondering how it'll translate onto the page.
    Great List!
