The Broke and the Bookish, Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme for list-loving bloggers. Every Tuesday, participants compile a list of their favorite books, authors, or other literature-related things that fall under a certain category.
I use the phrasing of today's prompt loosely because I will not spend much time on an actual beach this summer. However, I will be traveling to California, and I plan to read a few books while soaking up more sunscreen than sun on the sandy west coast. Since I am a big believer in reading certain books during certain seasons, I have carefully planned out my list of summer books for summer reading. Here are a few of the titles I am going to pick up this summer—either on or off the beach.
Let's Get Lost by Adi Alsaid
I must read at least one road trip book every summer. It is practically a law.
2. Broken Hearts, Fences, and Other Things to Mend by Katie Finn
The back cover of my ARC promises that this book "has everything that perfect beach reads are made of." Since the blurb sounds like so much fun and since Katie Finn is a pen name for Morgan Matson, I am sure this statement is true.
3. Since You Asked by Maurene Goo
A hilarious-sounding plot and multicultural characters will draw me in every time.
To All the Boys I've Loved Before by Jenny Han
Something about this gorgeous, airy cover screams "summer" to me; it is going to be one of the first books I pick up after finals are over this week.
5. We Were Liars by E. Lockhart
Based on what I've heard about this book, I'll probably want to binge read it without school sponging up my time. I cannot wait to devour it within the span of a few days.
6. The Theory of Everything by Kari Luna
There is nothing like a book involving String Theory to keep my mind sharp for next school year. Without science classes bogging my mind down, I'll be able to fully enjoy the confusing conceptual aspect of this story.
7. License to Spill by Lisi Harrison
Lisi Harrison has a talent for writing engaging, addictive books, and this one's predecessor, Pretenders, is no exception. License to Spill will be the perfect summer read.
The Summer I Wasn't Me by Jessica Verdi
This summer story is sure to make me furious in the best possible way.
9. Vivian Divine is Dead by Lauren Sabel
Celebrities, kidnappings, and more are sure to keep me hooked on this debut that releases today.
10. You Look Different in Real Life by Jennifer Castle
I never watch reality TV, but I love books about it—especially during the summer.
