Announcing A Novel Chat!

Good morning, lovely blog readers! I'm here with an announcement that I'm hoping will brighten your day, as it most certainly is brightening mine: I'm going to be co-hosting a podcast about YA literature and publishing along with the inimitable Aneeqah of My Not So Real Life and Willa of Willa's Ramblings!

How did this idea get started? Back in early January, Aneeqah tweeted that she was thinking about starting a YA podcast, and Willa and I both responded with support. We each decided we also wanted to be a part of the project, Aneeqah graciously welcomed us, and we proceeded to have a series of Google Hangouts to plan. After much deliberation about a name, a format, a schedule, and more, A Novel Chat was born.

What can you expect? Our podcasts will be about 20 minutes long, and a new one will air every Monday. Each month, we'll pick a theme (such as Harry Potter, our theme for March) and have four discussions that in some way relate to it. We'll talk about books both new and old with a dash of publishing news at times. Our first episode goes up March 7 (we'll be talking about YA books we think will become classics, Harry Potter will surely retain popularity for several years), so mark your calendars! We're also planning to host a Twitter chat that evening using #ANChat (time TBA, so stay tuned).

We'll be uploading our episodes on the iOS podcast app as well as SoundCloud, so be sure to subscribe! For updates, you can subscribe to our newsletter here:
Why am I co-hosting a podcast? Aside from the obvious (it will give me a chance to discuss and promote YA books with two of my closest blogging friends), I cannot wait to try out a new communications medium. Up until now, I've been focused solely on writing, and podcasting will allow me to branch out into audio and radio.

I hope you'll choose to join me on this journey into the land of the airwaves. But until then, you can follow us on Twitter @aNovelChat, email questions and comments to anovelchat [at] gmail.com, and stay tuned for our first episode on March 7!
